Jacob Jensen: a note on the designer
Industrial designer, Jacob Jensen was born on April 29, 1926 in Vesterbro, Copenhagen. He left primary school after the seventh grade, starting to be an upholsterer from 1946. He He entered, in 1948, the School of Applied Arts having as teachers Jacob Hermann, Kaare Klint, Hans J. Wegner and Jørn Utzon. He finished his studies on industrial design and specialized project in 1952. He was then employed by Sigvard Bernadotte and Acton Bjørn, the first Danish industrial design studio, becoming their main signature from 1954. he He also worked simultaneously in the U.S.A. joining the studio Raymond Loewy, Latham Tyler & jensen. He concluded these first working experiences by founding his own studio, Jacob Jensen Design, in 1958. Assistant professor in industrial design at the University of Chicago from 1959 to 1961, Jacob Jensen permeated the industrial design scene in the following decades, firsthand defining the canon Scandinavian aesthetic. Today the studio is in the inspired hands of his son, Timothy Jacob Jensen Jr. </ p>
